When did you last write a personal thank you letter? The last personal thank you's I wrote were to friends thanking them for gifts I received. However, they were probably more on the lines of thank you notes than letters.
Writing a thank you letter is very important. Whether for business or personal use, an effective thank you letter can make all the difference.

It's surprising how many people don't know where to start when writing personal thank you letters which is why I have included sample letters to get you started.

Writing A Personal Letter Of Thanks

Send a thank you letter as soon as possible after the event.

Your thank you letter does not need to be long. Keep it short and straight to the point. Business thank you letters should be typed and personal ones hand-written.

Make sure your thank you letter is appropriate for the occasion and sincere.

Check for grammar and spelling mistakes.

Sample Thank You Letter After Death

We would like to express our sincere thanks for all your support you gave us when Mum died.

We especially appreciate you helping us with the daily tasks of preparing meals, cleaning and driving the kids to school while Thomas and I took care of Mum's funeral arrangements.

It is going to take some time for us to get over Mum's tragic death and we are taking each day as it comes. We are blessed to have such good friends as yourselves and we are sincerely grateful for all that you have done.
