Sample Thank You For
Funeral Flowers

Writing a thank you for funeral flowers after you have just lost a loved one, I know, is the last thing on your mind. Please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss and I truly hope my sample wording will help you at this difficult time.

Not everybody I know of has sent out thank you notes on receipt of funeral flowers. However, if you do feel it is expected, and would like to, then try and send your notes out within 2-3 weeks of receiving the flowers.

If you don't feel up to it, do enlist the help of a family member or friend who can help with the purchasing of the stationery and be responsible for the mailing. That leaves you to only think about the wording.

Bear in mind your family and friends won't expect a lengthy note, a few lines of gratitude is all that is necessary. Simple thank you wording is all that is required.

Hand write the thank you notes if possible. Your funeral home can usually supply tasteful cards with appropriate funeral thank you verses or even funeral thank you poems on them. That leaves you just to write a simple "Thank you very much".

Alternatively you can purchase pre-printed cards and write a line or two and perhaps write a more personal thank you once you are feeling up to it.

It will depend on your relationship to the person as to how you word your thank you note.

Informal Thank You Notes For Flowers

Dear Julia,

Thank you for the lovely flower arrangement you sent to us when Tom died. As you know roses were his favourite flower and he loved nothing more than pottering around in his rose garden.

It was so thoughtful of you to send such a beautiful arrangement. Thank you so much.

With love,

Emma

Dear Harriet,

Thank you so much for your love and support during this difficult time, it is so greatly appreciated. The beautiful wreath you sent was spectacular, and I know that Mum would have loved the sunflowers as they were one of her favourites in the garden.

I can still remember the huge bunch of sunflowers you sent for her 60th birthday. She was speechless!

On behalf of my family, thank you.

Warm regards,

Thank You For Donation in Lieu of
Funeral Flowers

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you kindly for the generous donation you sent for the Chiltern hospice. It was my Father's wish that the hospice be appreciated for making his last weeks as comfortable as possible.

As you know the hospice rely on donations as they aren't state funded.

Thank you once again, your generosity is much appreciated.

Warmest regards,

Dear Martha,

Thank you so much for donating to the cancer charity my mum supported.  It was a family decision to support the charity in lieu of funeral flowers, and it was what mum wanted.

Thank you for being so thoughtful.

Warmest thanks,
