Homemade Gifts In A Jar

Homemade Jar Gifts

Homemade gifts in a jar are one of the best homemade thank you gifts I can think of.

Homemade jar gifts that you don't actually have to bake are great as Christmas, Birthday or teacher appreciation gifts, neighbor thank you gifts, or for family and friends. They are easy to make and are sure to be appreciated by the people who receive them.

Easy Homemade Thank You Gifts

Gifts in a jar are a cheap and easy holiday gift and are especially great if you need thank you gifts in large numbers.

Check your recipes, pretty much any recipe can be converted at home to a jar gift. They will keep for about a year as long as none of your ingredients have a use by date. However, sugar does tend to harden after a while.
Choose unusual shaped jars if possible. Look out for pretty fabric for the top and ribbon or yarn to match. If making cookies a nice idea would be to tie a cookie cutter to the jar also. Don't forget your baking instructions too!

Oatmeal Cookie Recipe - Jar Recipe

Layer these ingredients in your jar:

200 g sugar
pinch of salt
80 g chopped almonds
90 g oats
80 g flour
1 tsp baking powder

Seal the jar, decorate and include baking instructions. You can either hand write them on a pretty card or type and print them off as a label and secure to the side of the jar. Recipe Instructions:

Will make 60 oatmeal cookies

Cream 125 g of soft butter and 1 egg together until creamy.

Add the dry ingredients from your jar and mix well.

Using the help of 2 teaspoons take small heaps of the oatmeal cookie mixture and place on a lined baking tray. Make sure that you leave enough space between each cookie as they will spread.

Bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 190 degrees C for about 15 minutes until golden brown.

Remove carefully (they may break up while still hot) from the baking tray and leave to cool.
Have fun making homemade gifts in a jar.
